'Mismatched'Prostate Cancer Treatment More Common Than Expected
More than a third of men with early prostate cancer who participated in a study analyzing treatment choice received therapies that might not be appropriate, based on pre-existing problems with urinary, bowel or sexual function. The prevalence of these treatment "mismatches"could reflect patient unwillingness to discuss such problems with their physicians.

Calcium May Protect Women From Cancer
A University of Minnesota Cancer Center study found that women consuming more than 800 milligrams of calcium each day reduced their risk of colorectal cancer by as much as 26 to 46 percent. A 26 percent reduction in risk of colorectal cancer occurred regardless of whether the calcium intake was from diet or supplement.

Cold Treatment Kills Fruit Fly On Citrus Fruits
Cold storage at temperatures of 2°or 3°C can effectively kill Queensland Fruit Fly in citrus stored for 14 to 16 days. This method provides an alternative to methyl bromide fumigation, which is toxic to citrus and shortens its shelf life. Methyl bromide is also being phased out in Australia because it is ozone depleting, according to researchers.

Divers Find New Species In Aleutians
