Flavonoids May Inhibit Prostate Cancer
Researchers orally fed the flavonoid apigenin to mice two weeks before implanting a prostate tumor, then continuing the feedings for eight weeks. In a second protocol, apigenin was fed to mice two weeks after tumor implantation. The first protocol mimicked prevention regimens, while the second followed therapeutic regimens for cancer.In both cases, the apigenin slowed tumor growth and did not appear to cause any adverse side effects.

The view researchers created allowed them to link movement of the plumes to processes that release plasma into space. "Discovering this link is like discovering the movement of cold fronts is responsible for sudden thunderstorms,"said Jerry Goldstein, principal scientist at the Southwest Research Institute, San Antonio.

Increase In Creeping Vines Signals Major Shift In Southern US Forests
A new study of bottomland hardwood forests in the southeastern United States suggests that the increased growth of vines may change the landscape of these forests. Researchers charting the growth of vines in two forests in South Carolina found up to a 10-fold increase in the number of vines in just two decades. Vines commonly found in both forests include grapevines, trumpet vine, poison ivy and Virginia creeper. Most of the vines use adhesive roots or tendrils to climb trees.
