The Central Database of Shoah Victims' Names This database is "an international undertaking led by Yad Vashem, from Jerusalem. It is the attempt to reconstruct the names and life stories of all the Jews who perished in the Shoah [Holocaust]."Contains about three million records, based on pages of testimony, historical documentation, and local commemoration projects. Data for the items vary, but may include date and place of birth and death, spouse's name, profession, and other details. Pregnant Women At Higher Risk For HIV, Uganda Study Finds The risk of acquiring HIV rises during pregnancy, according to a study of women in Uganda's Rakai District led by researchers at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. The increased risk for acquiring HIV remained even after researchers controlled for behavior and other factors that contribute to HIV risk. The findings suggest that the increased risk was likely due to biological changes during pregnancy.
