Cold Spring Harbor (album)

Cold Spring Harbor was Billy Joel's first solo album, and was released in 1971 (1971 in music). He had already released several albums as a member of the bands "The Hassles" and "Attila", but this was his first solo effort. It was released by Family Productions, but through an error in the album's editing, the songs were slightly too fast, causing Joel's voice to sound high and reedy. This was remedied in 1983 when Columbia Records, his new label, re-released a corrected version. Due to legal difficulties with Ripp, Family Production's parent company, Joel subsequently moved to California, where he played under the assumed name Bill Martin, an experience that eventually led to his song "Piano Man".

US Government Delays Nanotechnology Safety Measures, Report States
Want to buy a bag of carbon nanotubes -- in quantities from a few grams to hundreds of kilograms (100 kilograms = approximately 220 pounds)? With a credit card and Internet access, you can. But is the U.S. government doing enough to ensure the safety of these materials and the hundreds of other nanotechnology commercial and consumer products currently on the market?

Bone Structure 'Vastly Different'Than Previously Believed
Researchers have discovered that the structure of human bones is vastly different than previously believed. The characteristic toughness and stiffness of bone is predominantly due to the presence of specialized sugars, not proteins. Their findings could have sweeping impacts on treatments for osteoporosis and other bone disorders. One of the scientists notes that this may strengthen the rational for using glucosamine or chondroitin.

Election 2004 Results
"Using County-by-County election return data ... we produced the following graphic [map] depicting the results. Of course, blue is for the democrats, red is for the republicans, and green is for all other. Carnegie Mellon University Chemists Adapt Casting Technique To Make Or
Carnegie Mellon University scientists have harnessed an experimental technology to produce polymer films with long-range-ordered nanostructure and easily convert them into highly ordered "nanocarbon arrays."Called zone casting, it could revolutionize industrial manufacturing of nanoelectronic components. The findings are in press with the Journal of the American Chemical Society. Zone casting could help produce data storage arrays with increased density and reliability, as well as materials for other nanoelectronic devices like field emission arrays.
