The Commonwealth of the Philippines was formed in 1935 and was conquered by the Japanese on June 9, 1942, during World War II. The first president of the Commonwealth was Manuel L. Quezon. After the Japanese Occupation, it was followed by the Republic of the Philippines.

Marshfield Clinic Researchers Launch Study Of Environmental Causes Of
Marshfield Clinic researchers have begun searching for genetic and environmental links to Alzheimer's disease as a first step toward developing diagnostic markers to identify people at risk before they develop the disease. According to Marshfield Clinic Epidemiologist Catherine McCarty, Ph.D., principal investigator of the Personalized Medicine Research Project and co-investigator of the Alzheimer's study. "We are the first that I know of to look at the interaction between genetics and environment on the risk of disease."
