Researchers Develop New Testing Methods For Potential Monkeypox Or Sma
Researchers at the Vaccine and Gene Therapy Institute (VGTI) at Oregon Health &Science University have developed new diagnostic methods to better detect future monkeypox or smallpox outbreaks. The research also sheds new light on the 2003 monkeypox outbreak in the Midwest -- monkeypox is closely related to smallpox. This new information also suggests that the 2003 outbreak was larger than the 72 cases earlier reported by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Aquarium of the Bay just announced the first-ever Pacific angel shark pup to be born in captivity. The pup is just 23.5 centimeters in length and weighs 125 grams.Named for their large wing-shaped pectoral fins, angel sharks have flattened bodies and grow to five feet in length. Their gray, brown and black coloring blends with the sandy and rocky Bay bottom in which they bury themselves to ambush their favorite prey: fish, crustaceans and mollusks.
