Researchers On Cruise To Understand Major Changes In Atlantic Scientists at the University of Liverpool are embarking on a research cruise to help them understand recent major changes in the temperature of the Atlantic. Student Architect Designs Disaster Relief In A Box When it comes to disaster relief, University of Toronto master of architecture student Michael Donaldson is thinking inside the box. Donaldson's thesis project, completed on Jan. 8, lays out the concept for a deployable architectural system, including field hospitals, workshops and shelters, which uses common shipping containers as standard modular units.  HYPER-CEST MRI Breaks New Ground In Molecular Imaging Researchers with the US Department of Energy's Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and the University of California at Berkeley have developed a new technique for Magnetic Resonance Imaging that allows detection of signals from molecules present at 10,000 times lower concentrations than conventional MRI techniques. Called HYPER-CEST, this technique could become a valuable tool for medical diagnosis, including the early detection of cancer. Green Diesel: New Process Makes Liquid Transportation Fuel From Plants University of Wisconsin-Madison College of Engineering researchers have discovered a new way to make a diesel-like liquid fuel from carbohydrates commonly found in plants. New Worldwide Coral Reef Library Created A collection of 1,490 coral reef images has become the basis for a new Internet- based library for the Millennium Coral Reef Project. It was created in a partnership with NASA, international agencies, universities and other organizations to provide natural resource managers a comprehensive world data resource on coral reefs and adjacent land areas.
