Topiary

Topiary is the art of creating sculptures in the medium of shrubbery. Examples may be found at, among other places, various Disney theme parks and the hotels on those properties and outside the Tavern on the Green restaurant in Central Park in New York. The title character in Tim Burton's movie Edward Scissorhands is lauded for his skill in the art; a real-life topiary artist is a subject of Errol Morris's Fast, Cheap and Out of Control.

New Experiment To Investigate Effect Of Galactic Cosmic Rays On Clouds
A novel experiment, known as CLOUD (Cosmics Leaving OUtdoor Droplets), begins taking its first data today with a prototype detector in a particle beam at CERN , the world's largest laboratory for particle physics. The goal of the experiment is to investigate the possible influence of galactic cosmic rays on Earth's clouds and climate. This represents the first time a high energy physics accelerator has been used for atmospheric and climate science.

Broccoli Sprout-derived Extract Protects Against Ultraviolet Radiation
Humans can be protected against the damaging effects of ultraviolet radiation -- the most abundant cancer-causing agent in our environment -- by topical application of an extract of broccoli sprouts. The results in human volunteers, backed by parallel evidence obtained in mice, show that the degree of skin redness (erythema) caused by UV rays, which is an accurate index of the inflammation and cell damage caused by UV radiation, is markedly reduced in extract-treated skin.
